Get Paid to Play Games Now

Since I became a video game tester, so many people ask how can I get paid to play games? I think a lot of people just don’t understand the fact that video games are a huge industry. Now in the $50 billion+ range, and every game company worth its salt (Namco, Bandai, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Capcom to name a few of my favorites) will allow you to get paid to play video games because they don’t want to lose money tossing out an untested game.

You can easily get paid to play online games and get paid to play PC games from your home, in some cases, despite what people say about this being a security risk. The problem isn’t the availability of jobs or technical skills either. I wanted originally to be a game developer, and I still plan on progressing to that point for my life time career (currently attending DeVry University for Game and Simulation Programming- check them out if you get the chance), but I had NO idea what C++ or Torque or any of that stuff was when I got started about a year ago testing games.

Why do I point this out? To impress upon you if you’re interested in this career that you don’t have to be some big shot programmer or something to play video games for money. Whether you like to play RPG games, Puzzle games, Adventure games or any other variety, you can make money playing them!

I know some guys that don’t know a lick of programming language and just get paid to play flash games or get paid to play games online! That’s how huge this industry is! Low grade indie developers making Flash games will often pay people initially to play games if the tester promises to give them a review. If you were one of the people who went to them and offered a review in exchange for some cash, then you would get paid to play free games.

I’ve done a lot of work in the industry over both the technical side and the more fun testing side. I can definitely say that getting money for playing video games is one of the best decisions I made in my life. There’s really no better way to make money (certainly beats working at McDonald’s by a long shot!). You sometimes get to play really cool games too.

Well I guess that’s it for this post, I just wanted a to clear up the confusion that a lot of people seem to have when thinking about becoming video game testers. So many people don’t believe you get paid well enough, and, truth be told, you aren’t paid a hundred thousand or anything, but you can definitely live comfortably if you work your way up the food chain. And if you hang around a lot of game sites online you’ll probably find plenty of people who want you to review their game and are willing to pay for it!
